The bird box design was a response to the amount of
dumped estate agent signs that litter are streets.
As a designer I wanted to find a new life for the signs, and I liked the idea that they could provide a home for somebody at an affordable price, unlike most estate agents! The signs are cropped to use the interesting bits, and I mix up three different companies in each box to further abstract them, and make them as vibrant as possible. I have always loved
African recycled pieces such as light bulbs that have been converted to
oil lamps. They subvert the commonplace and make you look at mundane objects
in a different way, which I hope the bird boxes do to. |
